Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Features
The Toyota Tacoma has been a dependable truck for decades. Drivers in Nashville, Gallatin, and Madison know that it blends performance and power in a stylish ride. what can its toughest trim do?
To help you see what this versatile truck can offer you, Ron Hibbard Toyota put together this 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro features review.
Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Design
The 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro was made to be the most versatile Toyota Tacoma both on and off-road.
Like other Tacoma trims, it’s powered by a 3.5L V6 engine that gets 278 horsepower and a choice of a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. What sets it apart is its suspension.
The TRD-tuned suspension features 2.5-inch FOX Internal Bypass shocks with aluminum housings. This gives it a raised front height, plus added durability thanks to the oversized shock shafts. With a 9.4-inch ground clearance, streams, logs, and steep inclines are no problem.
To prepare you for taking on steep angles and getting over obstacles like rocks, there’s also a ¼-inch aluminum TRD Pro Skid Plate. This protects your underbody from the toughest obstacles and during extreme off-road approach and departure angles.
It’s also designed to help you out with transporting lots of cargo. With a Sheet-Molded Composite truck bed it can carry a payload of up to 1,175 pounds, while its tough tow hitch can pull up to 6,400 pounds.
Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Performance
The suspension is just the beginning of what makes the 2018 Toyota Tacoma so versatile. Technology added to the drivetrain has helped make it capable of tackling anything you throw at it.
You can easily adjust the engine throttle and brakes to better control your wheelspin with the Mult-Terrain Select system. Just turn a dial to adjust the drive train to whatever conditions call for.
Crawl Control takes this a step further by giving you five low-speed settings, so you can focus on the road ahead instead of the terrain you’re on.
With the Electronically Control Locking Rear Differentials equal amounts of torque and throttle will go to both axles, so you’ll maintain traction at all times.
You’ll have that same peace of mind when you’ve stopped on an angle too. With Hill Start Assist Control, you won’t experience any roll back after taking your foot off the brake. It starts to apply the throttle before disengaging the brakes, so you can get going on any hill.
Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Style
There’s more than just more capable performance that sets the 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro apart. It also has a style that’s all its own.
On the exterior, there’s a heritage grille that presents the name Toyota rather than the standard logo. This bold first impression gets rounded out with Rigid Industries® LED fog lights in aluminum housings.
You’ll make a statement even before you pull up with the TRD Pro cat-back exhaust. This chrome-plated exhaust lets your power be heard and sports the TRD logo engraved on it too. All of this sits on top of 16-inch TRD Pro black alloy wheels.
Inside there’s a unique with black leather seats and red accent stitching. The TRD Pro logo is stitched into everything from the floor mats to the headrests. It’s even stamped onto your leather-wrapped shift knob.
