2018 Toyota Camry vs. 2018 Honda Accord
Both the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord are big news for 2018, since they each received a full redesign. In addition to better power, these cars are promised to have better safety and convenience options than their previous models.
We’ve placed the 2018 Toyota Camry and the 2018 Honda Accord side by side for a thorough comparison. Read more about the key differences between them, and learn where to go to test drive the winning vehicle.
2018 Toyota Camry Performance
The Toyota Camry has a 2.5-L, 205-horsepower, four-cylinder engine with a new eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2018 Camry also offers a 3.5-liter four-cylinder that’s direct-injected and uses variable valve timing to produce 301 horsepower and increase efficiency. It’s also offering a gasoline-electric hybrid, which is a pairing of the 176-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor and continuously variable transmission. As always, the Camry is backed by efficient brakes, light, responsive steering, and a comfortable ride.
2018 Honda Accord Performance
The Honda Accord did away with its old four- and six- cylinder engines and replaced them with two turbocharged four-cylinders to increase power and efficiency. The base engine is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 192 horsepower and pairs with a continuously variable transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. The second engine that replaces the V-6 is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 252 horsepower.
Though the base Accord handles uneven roads well, the Sport Accord model doesn’t absorb road shock. This leads to a bumpy ride that feels more uncomfortable than sporty.
Camry vs Accord: Comfort
The Toyota Camry can comfortably seat five in its spacious interior, with plenty of head- and legroom. The interior is upscale and inviting, with a logical layout for the knobs and controls. In addition, there’s ample storage space in the trunk, and its floor is completely flat for more space.
The Honda Accord offers a roomy interior as well, with decent head- and legroom, but the material quality of the interior is lacking. For storage, the Accord offers a reasonably-sized trunk, though it doesn’t offer the same space or comfort as the Camry.
Toyota Camry vs. Honda Accord: Technology
For 2018, both the Accord and the Camry offer head-up displays, as well as wireless phone charging and Wi-Fi hotspots. They also offer updates information displays and redesigned 8-inch touch screens. Standard with the Camry, however, is the Entune 3.0, which includes streaming audio apps, Bluetooth connectivity, voice command, and a three-year subscription to the Scout GPS Link navigation app.c
There are also similar safety offerings for both vehicles, though the Camry offers a one-year subscription to Toyota’s Safety Connect, which offers roadside assistance, remote locking and unlocking, stolen vehicle location, and emergency crash notifications.
