Toyota Tundra vs Ram 1500
A tough truck like the Toyota Tundra or Ram 1500 should be able to offer lots of options and deliver a safe, capable ride. So, which one is right for you?
Ron Hibbard Toyota helps drivers in Nashville, Gallatin, and Madison decide with this 2019 Toyota Tundra vs. Ram 1500 comparison.
Toyota Tundra vs Ram 1500 Cab Sizes
The Tundra and Ram 1500 each feature seating for up to six people. The front seats offer a choice between a bench with a middle seat or a wide armrest and center console.
Inside the Toyota, the back row can help you store smaller cargo inside. The split fold-up rear seats make it easy to load items you don’t want to lay down in the truck bed like lamps and potted plants. The Ram 1500 doesn’t offer this kind of interior storage capability.
There are two cab sizes available for the Toyota, the Double Cab and CrewMax. With the Double Cab, you’ll have two full-size front doors, two thin forward-hinged rear doors with sleek and subtle handles, and a choice between either 6.5- or 8.1-foot truck bed. The CrewMax cab has four full-sized doors and a 5.5-foot truck bed.
The 1500 also offers two cab sizes but gives you less storage room and fewer options. The Crew Cab and Quad Cab each use the same style for their rear doors and only offer two truck bed sizes. You’re limited to just a 5.7- or a 6.4-foot bed.
Toyota Tundra vs Ram 1500 Capability
The Toyota and Ram trucks are each strong enough to carry lots of cargo for you, either with the tow hitch or in the truck bed. The Toyota is the more capable pickup when you need to get that cargo through tough terrain though.
It stands tall with a 10.6-inch ground clearance to help you get up and over whatever stands in your way. If you plan on going off-roading in your truck, you get it equipped with front and rear TRD FOX® shocks with remote reservoirs.
The Ram 1500 doesn’t offer the same versatile shock absorbers. It’s also lower to the ground with an 8.2-inch ground clearance.
Toyota Tundra vs Ram 1500 Safety
Whether you’re on the highway or taking on trails, the 2019 Toyota Tundra protects you with eight airbags and a suite of driver assistance features. The Toyota Safety Sense™ P system comes standard and looks out for your truck with smart features like:
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
- Lane Departure Alert with Sway Warning System
- Automatic High Beams
- Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
The 2019 Ram 1500 doesn’t offer the same level of protection. It only has six airbags and, while it does offer some similar driver assistance features, they don’t come standard and grouped together like Toyota Safety Sense™ P.
