2017 Toyota 4Runner
The 2017 Toyota 4Runner sticks to its guns, at least for the time being, as it continues to emphasis off road performance over ultra-refined comfort and convenience. And why not? With so many other so-called off road vehicles turning themselves into grocery getters posing as weekend off road warriors, the 4Runner continues to dance with the one who brought it. And that is rugged, no holds bar, off road capabilities that still allows for excellent daily driving dynamics.
So, if driving through muddy terrain, and in and around deep ruts, climbing hills, and blazing through winter wastelands is on the agenda, then the 2017 Toyota 4Runner is the one top get the job done.
And not to worry when the fun is over, there will still be enough reliability and comfort to drive in the ways most people prefer.
Body on frame construction of the 4Runner is still the standard but in return buyers get a real off road vehicle capable of dominating the most daunting terrain. At least some things are not getting soft.
Rugged Performance Refined Ride of the 2017 4Runner
The 4Runner’s capabilities begin with a single power plant offering, a 4.0L V6 DOHC with 270HP. A five speed Electronically Controlled Transmission is its rpm management system. To keep the 4Runner in line and wheeling at its best, Toyota has a myriad of standard performance features, including Automatic Slip Differential, Hill Start Assist, Coil Spring Suspension, Variable Flow Control steering, and Power Assisted Ventilated Brakes.
Getting into the higher capabilities of the 4Runner’s four wheeled drive system, Toyota’s off road SUV receives ATRAC 4WD that has both full and part-time four-wheel drive settings. Going even further, and into the TRD Premium 4Runner, Toyota adds Bilstein® high performance shocks and X-REAS sports suspension.
4Runner Exterior Still Bold and Bad
Just like the 4Runner’s performance, Toyota keeps its legacy alive in the exterior design. Major elements of the iconic look of the of the 4Runner remain firmly present but with a few contemporary design cues added. As a result, the 4Runner is rugged looking, while exhibiting modern sophistication. Its projector beam headlights deliver higher and stronger lighting than regular headlights. The 4Runner still looks the part of a rugged terrain renegade.
