Vehicle Reviews:
2018 Toyota C-HR Review

Sometimes you need a little extra space in your vehicle as you cruise the streets of Nashville, Gallatin and Madison. If you want a spacious interior without having to deal with the bulkiness of a full size SUV, the clear choice is a crossover. With their rising popularity, however, finding the right crossover for your needs can be challenging.

One of the best models available is the 2018 Toyota C-HR. The first thing you might notice about this striking vehicle is its departure from your usual crossover design. Its uniqueness doesn’t end there, however, as it includes some incredible features that all drivers can enjoy. Learn more about the 2018 C-HR and discover if it’s the right crossover for you.

2018 C-HR Technology

Any modern vehicle wouldn’t be complete without integrated tech, and the technology in the 2018 C-HR is state of the art. It includes a 7-inch touch screen from which you can access the advanced infotainment system. Bluetooth connectivity comes standard, so you can connect your smartphone to your crossover and have access to your favorite apps like music, calling, messaging, navigation and more. There’s even an additional screen on your instrumentation panel that displays important information like average mileage and outside temperature among others.

Arguably the most impressive piece of technology in the new C-HR is the backup camera. While backup cameras are pretty standard these days, this backup camera display is located in the rear-view mirror. No matter what cargo you got stacked up in the back, you’ll have a clear view of the area behind you with this uninhibited backup camera display. Don’t worry, it’s not on all the time. Your mirror returns to normal functioning once you shift out of reverse.

Toyota Safety

Before you head out with any vehicle, you need to be sure it’s safe. Toyota has established a reputation for safety, and the C-HR doesn’t disappoint. This advanced crossover includes the Star Safety System and Toyota Safety Sense. They work together to prevent accidents from ever happening in the first place with traction enhancements and automatic braking.

If an accident does occur, the Toyota C-HR is prepared for that as well. There are an impressive 10 airbags strategically place throughout the cabin to protect every available seat. You can drive with peace of mind knowing that the high-tensile steel surrounding you can direct kinetic energy around the cabin, minimizing the force of any impact.

2018 Toyota CH-R Performance

All these features wouldn’t mean much if the new Toyota crossover can get you where you need to go. With the standard 2-liter 4-cylinder engine with Valvematic technology, you get a nice mixture of power and fuel economy. The available 144 horsepower is more than enough to get you where you need to go while you can still enjoy an EPA-estimated 31 mpg highway.

Handling is also enhanced with specially designed sport-tuned suspension. This works with the MacPherson strut front suspension with SACHS dampers to provide stability and control even when you take turns a bit hard. Crossovers tend to have a higher rollover rating, so this compensates for it.

We’ve placed the 2017 Honda HR-V and the 2018 Toyota C-HR side by side to compare all the differences in features and capabilities. Read more about the key differences between the two in this in-depth review.
