Toyota Tacoma Specs
The Toyota Tacoma offers a capable drive with both rear-wheel drive and 4WDemand part-time 4-wheel drive (4WD). Both options feature a limited-slip differential, while 4WD comes with a Multi-terrain Select system and Crawl Control.
Each drivetrain is designed to ride high with a 9.4-inch ground clearance. This helps you navigate potholes, go off-roading, and attack steep terrain with a 29-degree approach angle.
There’s also a lot of power under the hood. You’ll have two engines to choose from. The base powertrain is a sporty 2.7L 4-cyliner engine that gets up to 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The more powerful option is a 3.5L V6 engine that’s can deliver up to 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.
An efficient 6-speed Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) comes standard, but a 6-speed manual is also available.
Toyota Tacoma Towing & Payload
Whether you’re hitching a trailer to your truck or loading up the bed, the Toyota Tacoma can carry lots of cargo. The 4-cylinder engine is capable of towing up to 3,500 pounds. With the larger V6 engine, the Toyota Tacoma can tow up to 6,800 pounds.
Both a 4- and 7-pin connecter are available for your truck, while Trailer-Sway Control comes standard. You’ll also be able to see a few different views when you’re hooking your trailer up. There’s a standard integrated backup camera that lets you line up perfectly with your cargo. For more visibility, the available panoramic view monitor can provide you with an overhead view of your truck.
Feel free to toss a lot of heavy cargo in the truck bed too. It can handle a payload of up to 1,440 pounds. Plus, you’ll be able to keep everything from sliding around thanks to four standard adjustable tie-down cleats

Whether you’re running errands or off-roading, the Toyota Tacoma is built to keep you safe. The interior has eight airbags, including front airbags, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, and roll-sensing Side Curtain Airbags that cover both rows of seats.
It also comes with Toyota Safety Sense™ P. This system uses driver assistance features to prevent accidents. You’ll have more awareness during your drive with features such as:
- Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
